At our second GENthusiast Society event, we'll look at what GEN does to address the issues girls face and how we do it. In the process, we'll deliver some of our core body positivity curriculum to our GENthusiasts.
Real Beauty: First, we'll present our "Real Beauty" workshop, which focuses on body positivity. This is a piece of GEN's core curriculum. We use it with the girls we serve in our ongoing programming, as well as in one-time workshops. However, at this event, we'll tailor the workshop to fit an adult audience. The workshop explores beauty in the media; we'll discuss the ways it makes women and girls feel about their own bodies. We'll talk about and decide what GENthusiasts think is beautiful and how to advocate for that. This will serve as a natural extension of some of the discussion at the Inaugural Society Salon.
Real Fundraising: Second, we'll offer a peer-to-peer fundraising panel. We can offer critical curriculum like "Real Beauty" because we have the funding and resources to do it. Consequently, peer-to-peer fundraising is one of the requirements for GENthusiast Society members. We want to empower you to fundraise in a way that feels comfortable and fulfilling to you: maybe it's educational, like a workshop on tweens and technology that you host for parents in your neighborhood, maybe it's entertaining and fun, like a "girl-power" themed movie night, or maybe it's straightforward and modern, like an online fundraising page. Keep in mind that the regularity and format of how you peer-to-peer fundraise is very flexible.
And of course, Real Refreshments and Time for Connection!
