Travel + Social Good: Impacting climate change on a local level

  Travel+SocialGood Austin, in partnership with Urban Co-Lab and on the first day of the Paris Climate Conference (COP21), is screening the Emmy Award-winning documentary “Chasing Ice,” followed by a conversation with Jayant Kairam (Austin local, Director of Operations for US Climate & Energy at the Environmental Defense Fund) on efforts to deal with the effects of climate change. After the screening, Jayant Kairam, Director of Operations for US Climate and Energy with the Environmental Defense Fund, will engage attendees in a conversation on building awareness about and dealing with the effects of climate change in their own lives and businesses. #EARTHTOPARIS Travel+SocialGood is an official collaborating partner of Earth to Paris, created by a diverse coalition of foundations, technology companies, media organizations and others to expand the climate conversation beyond the COP21 climate change talks in Paris. By using the hashtag #EarthtoParis during the event, Travel+SocialGood will join the United Nations Foundation, UNICEF, National Geographic, Mashable, Twitter, GOOD, and many, many more partners to drive awareness and highlight the connection between people and planet, and the need for strong climate action. ABOUT TSG AUSTIN Travel+SocialGood is a nonprofit a community aimed at propelling the travel industry to meet its potential for global positive impact. Our goal is to help build the travel industry of the future, where all travel will have a positive economic, environmental, cultural and social impact for traveler, place and resident. TSG Austin is a local chapter of the organization, bringing together travel professionals in the city to create a dynamic and innovative community. Our goal is to transform Austin into a capital of sustainable travel. TSG Austin joins TSG NYC and TSG Chicago in efforts to coordinate this event. Each city will be hosting simultaneous events for our first TSG multi-Hub effort. Funds from this event go toward the licensing fee for the screening.
